No, the ©michiganscienceart mark will not be on your print. We use it on our website to discourage unauthorized use of our images.

What type of prints are they?
Our prints are signed, are open-edition, and are printed from digital files (of scanned originals) with archival ink, on bright white Epson Archival Matte paper. If your print is properly cared for, it will last at least 75 years. The latin name(s) of the animal(s) will be printed below the images. Each print is inspected for quality before it is mailed.

What type of originals are they?
Our originals are gouache, a type of paint that is similar to watercolor, but is opaque. These, of course, are signed as well. The surfaces are variable; the artists used watercolor paper, bristol board, illustration board, colored matboard, and others. If you wish to know on what surface a particular painting is, please contact us.
The original paintings also vary greatly in size. You can see the approximate size of each painted image listed by each individual animal. The paintings may come with small “birthmarks,” stray marks of paint that can typically be hidden by a mat.


How is my order shipped, and when can I expect it?
Our unmatted prints and originals are shipped within 10 days of receiving your order, and will take at least three business days to arrive (within the U.S.). Matted or framed items will take up to three weeks longer. Originals are properly packaged and shipped with insurance. Contact us about special delivery needs. We will do our best to accomodate.

Do you have a catalog?
We have far too many paintings to have a cost-effective printed catalog. The only place to view our selection is here, using our online catalog.

How can I pay for my order?
A) You can use a major credit card (Mastercard, Visa, Discover), either by writing it on your mail-in order form, by entering it on our secure online order form, or by calling our toll-free number 1-877-919-3814 and leaving a message. Or

Are your products guaranteed?
There is a 30-day, no-questions-asked refund policy. If your print is damaged in any way, we will provide a replacement print once the damaged one has been returned to us. If you are returning an original, it must be returned intact in the same (or equal) packaging, with insurance.

How often are new images added to the selection?
New images are added several times a year, however our bird selection is largely complete. Very soon we will be adding reptiles and amphibians.

What type of matboard do you use on your prints and originals?
We use a top quality, archival (acid free), conservation mat. Please visit our Matting and Framing page for more details.

What type of glazing do you use in your frames?
We feel that it is safest to ship the artwork with plexiglass rather than glass. We use clear plexiglass. Please visit our Matting and Framing page for more details.

If I order artwork unmatted, what do you recommend for matting and framing?
We recommend using conservation-quality matboard and backing, in a frame that is not so large or ornate that it detracts from the focus – the painting. A mat color that matches that of the paper is usually best. If you use a double mat, the under mat could be a color that highlights one of the colors in the painting. The mat should be 2 to 4 inches wide on each side of the image. Clear glass, non-glare glass, or plexiglass are all suitable; ultraviolet-filtering glazing is ideal. We enclose a suggested matting and framing flyer with every order.

How should I care for my purchase?
Handle your purchase by the edges, and avoid touching the front of the paper as much as possible. For the best preservation of your print or original, have it professionally matted and framed if you did not order it so. Hang it in an area that is free from high humidity and out of direct sunlight.

Do you ship overseas?
Yes! We can also use a carrier of your choice. Our shopping cart system does not calculate shipping out side the US, but please contact us and we will work with you for the best pricing and the best carrier.
